New Orleans burlesque bombshell Trixie Minx was crowned Mardi Gras 2015's "Empress of the Insane and Captain of New Orleans" by the krewedelusion. Considering the absurdist inclinations of the marching group which parades on Saturday (Jan. 31 at 7:15 p.m.), the tone of Minx's proclamation was thoughtful and touching.

"New Orleans is a living and breathing cultural phenomenon that I am proud to call home," the statuesque dancer stated. "Do not be fooled, no one can truly rule over this physical land or the bizarre people who thrive here. We are part of a constantly evolving ecosystem that cannot be contained. And that's okay."

Minx, who wore a startlingly chaste pink sleeveless dress, continued:

"It is my ruling that each member of our beautiful and broken city pursue a revolution of self that will in turn produce a revolution and evolution of New Orleans as a whole. This revolution is not meant to overthrow the system but to contribute to its reinvention."

As the new Empress further stated to members of the krewe gathering in a Bywater neighborhood restaurant:

"Who you are is based on how you choose to live your life and the impact it has on the others around you.

Celebrate life. Dance in your panties, sparkly panties. Support your friends in their in their endeavors. Be kind to those who might not reciprocate. Fight for what you believe and smile and laugh. But most importantly, don't be a BLEEP."

Applauds cascaded at the conclusion of the somewhat surrealistic coronation. Minx, who now wore a treacherously tall spangled tiara, said:

"It's so funny. I really don't know what to say. I feel like I should be taking off my clothes and shaking."

All hail Trixie!
