Forbes.com is running a limited series looking at four things that make New Orleans unique. The first part focused on second lines, the second on king cakes, and the third part, which came out today, looks at Mardi Gras balls.
The reporter attended the Krewe of Orpheus' "Orpheuscapade" held in the Convention Center.
"While undoubtedly fun, the Orpheus Ball was more akin to a concert than a normal Mardi Gras Ball," the story reports. "According to early estimates from the Mayor's Office of Cultural Economy, the Ball was attended by more than 8,000 people, and generated around $2 million in revenue."
