The Krewe of Proteus, the second oldest parade krewe in New Orleans, rolled down the traditional Uptown route Monday night (Feb. 27).

Founded in 1882, Proteus still uses chassis built in the late 19th century. Proteus stopped parading in 1993 after the city passed laws designed to force krewes to integrate. The parade returned in 1999.
