Got leftover beads? Arc of Greater New Orleans wants them.

Got too many Mardi Gras beads still lying around your house? Uber drivers will pick them up for free on Saturday (March 4) and deliver them to Arc of Greater New Orleans' Mardi Gras Recycle Center.

The Recycle Center employs people with disabilities to sort and package donated beads for resale. Uber is helping kick off the 2017 donation cycle by connecting donors via Uber's app.

Here's how it works: Those living in New Orleans or Metairie should open their Uber app between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday and hit the BEADS banner at the bottom of the screen. You will need to bring your beads out to meet your driver when they arrive. "The demand will likely be high, so patience is requested in advance,'' a press release for the promotion states.

Uber will then deliver your donations to Arc.

Arc's Recycle Center sorted and repackaged 195,000 pounds of beads for the 2017 Mardi Gras season, said Margie Perez, Arc's recycling coordinator, in the press release.

"Last year, we were overwhelmed by the generosity of Uber and its riders who donated by the bag full. We can't stress enough how grateful we are for all donations because we need as many beads and throws as we can get to provide employment for people with disabilities who are eager to work through this uniquely New Orleans social enterprise."
