Mississippi River flood warning issued for New Orleans area

A cargo ship traveling empty downstream on the Mississippi River along the French Quarter on Monday (March 4) towers over the St. Louis Cathedral, thanks to the near flood-stage water, which is at 16.5 feet above sea level. Flood stage is 17 feet, but floodwalls protect New Orleans to at least 20 feet. Photo by David Grunfeld, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune.
