Mardi Gras: Societe de Sainte Anne meanders through New Orleans neighborhoods

The eclectic and delightfully costumed Societe de Saint Anne began in 1969, and in the decades since have become known for their annual pilgrimage to the Mississippi River, into which members traditionally pour ashes of loved ones who have died since the last Carnival.

And the krewe continued that tradition in 2017, winding its way through the equally eclectic and festive Bywater and Marigny neighborhoods, celebrating life and toasting to another Mardi Gras Day (Feb. 28).
